An E-commerce Site Can Help You Make Money in a Bad Economy

{ Posted on Feb 11 2009 by Louis Gubitosi }

An e-commerce business is a great option if you are having problems selling in this economy. That is because an online business widens your customer base, gives you a higher potential of income, and is cheaper in so many ways. The Internet has single handily changed the way your potential customers locate, compare and purchase goods – forever. Without a doubt the Internet and e-commerce are here to stay. Is your business taking part on this online revolution?

revelation | time and convenience | cost effective

The economy has caused thousands of businesses across the nation to close their doors due to people not having the money to spend. Wallets are tight in many local communities. When you have a physical place of business you are relying on one local area to spend money in your store. The Internet gives you the opportunity to see globalization at its best. Your customers could be in Hong Kong, Madrid, and even your local town. Your customer base of 2,000 is now increased to millions. The potential is unlimited when you sell online.

Because times are hard in this economy you may find that paying rent and utilities is outrageously expensive in a physical location. Paying for employees may be next to impossible too. You can start an online e-commerce business for a fraction of the price and have it up and running in no time. You can also work the business from the comfort of your own home and write off a portion of your home and all of your business expenses on your taxes.

If you want to keep your business up and running today and survive the hard times of the economy you might want to start an e-commerce company. Getting wired in will not only save you a ton of money in many different ways but you widen your customer base to the entire global marketplace. This gives you an income potential that is unlimited.

revelation

The products displayed on your website present large publicity to the millions of visitors on the web. For example, if you have a computer showroom in a city, the visitors would include people from in and around the city. Rarely there will be visitors from places outside your city. Thus limiting your product visibility. Alternatively, if your products are showcased on a website, it attaches you to the plentiful people who use the internet and looking for similar product as that of yours.

time and convenience

Time is one of the crucial factor in our lives now-a-days. It may be difficult for a customer to make time to visit your store physically. Instead, if you have your store presented on the Internet, anyone can pay a visit to your online store at their convenient time.

Your store shuts down at some point of time. But your e-store works 24X7 for you to fetch in customers.

Moreover, with all your product images and descriptions provided on your e-store, the customer gets a systematic idea about your product and you do not have to squander time outlining the same thing to each and every visitor to your store. It further saves time per transaction. Each sales representative would take some amount of time to demonstrate your product to any customer. Your e-commerce website does the same task to hundreds and thousands of your latent customers at the same time. As all the information about your product are provided prior to your customer’s visit, it takes less time for them to understand its benefits and hence closing the deal is easier. Thus, several numbers of transactions can occur within a day.

Displaying your product through demonstrations and illustrations provides a clear and thorough idea about your product without the effort of hiring and training personnel to do so.

cost effective

Setting up and maintaining a store in a prime location and its overhead expenses, hiring personnel etc costs you a lot of money. Alternatively using the e-commerce is a whole lot easier system of showcasing and providing information about your products.

Furthermore promotion of your store and its products must be carried out from time-to-time. Using web as a media of advertising your website, is much cheaper compared to that of other audio-visual medias, like radio or TV.

In an e-commerce website all that you require is professional website design, Search Engine Optimization to rank your website with your competitors, and the yearly hosting charges.

Largely speaking, there is no major hindrance of e-commerce websites.

So…if you have something to sell or are already selling products/services, make sure that you display it online so that you can reap the advantages of all the above-mentioned benefits.

But one very important thing that you must remember is that Interactive Blend are a group of professional e-commerce website developers and can help get your job done. Otherwise, if your website does not have the look and feel combined with the features and functionalities of an efficient online store, there’s no point of your website’s existence on the web.

Great post! One thing I’d like to add in regards to e-commerce sites; people are going online to find better deals. So even much of the loss of local foot traffic can be recovered if you have stores (assuming you’re not the high priced leader!).
